Fashion culture in the world is everywhere and estimated globally to be worth a whopping $2.4 trillion, with all these ‘hipsters’ focused on the latest  trends, in hairstyles, shoes, clothing etc. But If you look closely, you end up noticing that some of these individuals literally look like they were dressed by the images they saw in the magazine. Now to be honest, I personally believe that the key is not to copy the exact look but to try and be original by creating your own twist based on what you saw. I mean,  Coco Chanel said, “In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different” and  Karl Lagerfeld said “ Trendy is the last stage before tacky“.  So that being said, I remember years ago when brands like ‘FILA’ and ‘ASICS’ were not the trend and if you wore them, you were deemed as ‘not cool’. But honestly the designs looked very good and fresh at the time, until one day somebody says FILA and ASICS are ‘dope’, now everybody is wearing it. The point I am trying to make here is, if it looks good, it is good!

So while browsing the web, I discovered this documentary by a very popular UK fashion blogger who decided to explore South Africa’s fashion culture in May 2019. The fashion documentary by ICYKOF investigates fashion among the locals in two cities of Mzansi, being Cape Town and Johannesburg.  The brands featured in the documentary were OSCS, Court Order, the Off-White pop-up in Johannesburg, Young n Lazy, LEAF Apparel and Rolo Rozay. So to not stall any further, check out the documentary below…
